I believe each one of us can learn to be more disciplined in their approach to personal finance and the trick is in tweaking personal attitudes and philosophies to money and life. Yet, there are those who are able to have better relationships with money and are able to live enriched lives on budgets big or small.

We all struggle with money and personal finance decisions and this struggle is a usually a consistent part of our lives. And as I learn to get a handle on my own personal finances, I will share with you everything that I learn along the way. That is what The Budget Diary is all about – learning to get better at making personal finance decisions and living the life I want. There is a lot to learn for the sake of my future self. But I did do a few things right enough to allow me to live the life I want (for now). I did not do everything right and I will honestly tell you about these mistakes so hopefully you don’t make them. I can honestly say that my journey so far has seen me make a number of bloopers as well as have some shining successes where personal finance decisions are concerned. The Budget Diary is an attempt of a finance and budget novice (Me) to chronicle a journey to acquiring personal finance discipline. What I am sharing with you, are my own honest-to-God experiences with money and personal finance decisions in the hope that my experiences, successes and failures, will help you find your own way to start your own budget diary some day (the actual diary, not the blog coz its taken, haha…), where you can detail your own personal notes to financial freedom and security.

So, I am not giving you advice on how to manage your personal finances, nor am I sharing any tips on stocks and shares with you.

I am not a financial expert and there is so much I have to learn. The Budget Diary is my attempt is to facilitate better personal finance decision making by decoding attitudes to money, budgets, and more. If you live pay check to pay check and have all these big dreams about your life that you are not able to achieve because there is never enough money, chances are that the problem is your attitude to money and not the lack of it (and welcome to the gang because we are all in the same boat….). The difference is in the little and big ways that we approach money, which either leave us with less (no matter how much we started with), or a lot more (no matter how little we had in the first place). The trick to a happy and fulfilling life is not making more money, but having more money. There are many traps that even those who are richer can fall into (lifestyle inflation anyone?). The truth is that those who have learned to live below their means, no matter how much they have, lead far happier and satisfied lives than those who have a lot more but live beyond their means. If you had all the money in the world, what would you do? And when do you reach a point when you can say that you have all the money in the world? Because it is never enough. Instead of filling a vacuum, it makes one. Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it.
